About Sandy Weltman __________________________ Sandy Weltman

Harmonica virtuoso Sandy Weltman's talents are diverse to say the least. While at home in the Jazz realm, he is equally skilled in the musical stylings of Blues, Celtic, Klezmer, Latin and much more. Sandy learned much of his innovative harmonica methods while under the tutelage of harmonica wizard Howard (Flecktone) Levy. He has since gained International recognition winning 2nd place in the World Harmonica competition. Sandy has won numerous other musical awards and is equally skilled on the banjo, mandolin and a variety of other instruments. He has performed on dozens of CDs locally as well as nationally. He has also recorded and produced 3 CDs of his own, "Escape Velocity", "New World Harmonica Jazz", and his most recent, "The Klezmer Nuthouse". Please feel free to request copies of each of these.

You can frequently catch Sandy performing on mandolin and harmonica locally with "Farshid Etniko". This is one of St. Louis' most eclectic and original sounding groups, playing Gypsy and Latin Jazz.

Sandy also fronts "New World Harmonica Jazz" quartet which also features three of St.Louis' finest jazz musicians, Carolbeth True on piano, Glen Smith on bass, and Kevin Gianino on drums.

"Weltman deserves praise as a soloist; his harmonica playing leaps out into inventive melodic territory while expressing the emotions inherent in the song."
