About Dean Christopher: The Rat Pack and More
Dean opened for Don Rickles and played a private reception for Frank Sinatra Jr. both at the Touhill Performing Arts Center. A St. Louis based actor, singer, and entertainer, Dean has performed in venues from New York to Los Angeles and beyond. He was also a regular act at the sorely missed night club here in Clayton - "Finale". Dean is also proud to have released his CD "Swingin' with the Best", for which he wrote the title song. With over 30 years experience as an actor, singer, comedian, impressionist, a member of Actor's Equity, AFTRA, and Screen Actors Guild, Dean Christopher's stage, film, and television resume is extensive. He got his start at local clubs in his hometown of St. Louis, such as The Sting, The Speakeasy and the Playboy Club, with an act consisting of singing, comedy and impressions of personalities and singers. While Dean had grown up with rock, his preference was the type of music the Rat Pack, Bobby Darin, Nat King Cole and the like had been doing in Las Vegas. When these clubs eventually turned into venues showcasing rock bands, Dean moved to New York City, focusing on honing his acting skills at HB Studio. At the same time, he was still singing, doing comedy and emcee work for companies such as Boeing, Minolta, Chevrolet, EDS, Sony Federal Express, Tivoli and AT&T and at clubs like Catch a Rising Star, Chilies, and Don't Tell Mama in New York and Ye Little Club in Los Angeles. During his twenty-plus year hiatus as an actor he shared the theatrical stage with actors such as Theodore Bikel, John Cullum, Eddie Bracken, Lee Meredith and Donna McKecknie and made appearances on daytime's All My Children, One Life to Live and Another World. His favorite stage roles include Nathan Detroit in "Guys and Dolls", Herbie in "Gypsy", and the title roles in "Barnum" and "Phantom". Dean has also been seen and heard on numerous radio and television commercials and is a winner of the Marconi Award for Best Male Voice Talent. Frank Sinatra got to see resurgence in his style of music in the later years of his life. Not that he's given up acting but after Sinatra's death, Dean's love of that style of performance caused him to return to his roots as a night club/cabaret performer, hoping to keep alive the music of the performers he learned so much from in the beginning of his career. While continuing to work on stage, film, television and radio, Dean developed an entertaining one-man show paying tribute to classic Las Vegas; it's style, music and performers back when the Rat Pack ruled.
