Director, Business Development

St. Louis based Contemporary Productions, L.L.C., a full-service event and entertainment company, has an opportunity available for a Director of Business Development with 4+ years of sales, event planning, meeting planning and entertainment industry experience.

As the Director of Business Development, you will identify and pursue new business opportunities with national and local corporations, non-profit organizations, retail stores, mall developers, civic organizations, cultural institutions and private individuals.

You will offer a myriad of services to clients including talent / celebrity booking, event design, content creation, audio/visual support and event staffing. You will work closely with, and communicate with, Senior Management as well communicate with Project Management teams during the sales process.

Additional responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Honing a targeted list of clients that repeatedly use event services
  • Calling targeted clients and setting appointments to present capabilities
  • Developing relationships with targeted clients that result in contracts
  • Effectively present company capabilities to potential clients
  • Maintaining an active client portfolio
  • Report on client portfolio status to Senior Management
  • Developing and maintaining collateral (brochures, photos, fliers, etc.)
  • Bringing existing clients and relationships to the fold
  • Communicating with teams of vendors and Project Managers
  • On-site event management
  • Project recap & accounting

Experience requirements include, but are not limited to:

  • Minimum of 4 to 6 years of event industry experience
  • The ability to capture and win new business, as evidenced by multiple winning opportunities where you had a major personal role in the successful outcome
  • Experience in building and developing viable prospects
  • Experience interfacing with Senior Management and clients
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, presentation and problem solving skills and the ability to gain support and establish working relationships with managers and peers are essential
  • Strong knowledge of entertainers, performers and celebrities
  • Exceptional writing and communication skills
  • Experience in managing budgets
  • Proficiency in Excel, PowerPoint & Word
  • Ability to deal effectively with all types of personalities is essential
  • Travel will be required.

Event/Marketing Internship

Contemporary Productions, a dynamic St. Louis based entertainment and event production company, has an opportunity available for a summer internship for students or graduates with a passion for the events industry.

Responsibilities for this position include:
  • Insure company is listed on industry related directories
  • Set up social networking sites for company (Facebook, Linkedin, etc.)
  • Post approved blog entries for company, twitter, etc.
  • Access and optimize search engine hits for company website
  • Help create and send bi-monthly e-newsletter
  • Maintain and manage company email lists
  • Compile and organize materials to enter industry awards
  • Research possible new business leads for company
  • Clip and organize event ideas and photos from trade publications
  • Assist in creating event recaps
  • Update and organize files
  • Artist and celebrity research
  • Some on-site event work (includes evenings and weekends in some cases)
  • Administration duties (mail, phones, faxes, filing, copying, etc.)

The successful candidate will possess strong knowledge of entertainers, performers and celebrities, event trends and organizational skills. Proficiency in Excel, PowerPoint & Word, and the ability to multi-task are required. Adobe Photoshop skills are a plus. Previous experience in the entertainment or special event fields are a definite plus.

Event Production Assistant

St. Louis, Missouri based Contemporary Productions, a dynamic special event and entertainment company, has an opportunity available for a EVENT PRODUCTION ASSISTANT with 1+ years of entertainment industry, event production and project management experience. The ideal candidate MUST have technical knowledge of sound, lighting and video systems used in the concert and special events industry.

Responsibilities for this position include:
  • Create technical budgets for projects
  • Sourcing vendors / securing quotes
  • Securing contracts for equipment
  • Maintain and stay within budget guidelines
  • Manage day to day needs for several on-going projects at once
  • Market research for proposals
  • Site surveys
  • Build electronic event diagrams in CAD or Visio programs
  • On-site event management
  • Managing a production crew
  • Knowledge of unions and labor (stagehands, riggers, truck loaders, etc.)
  • Project Recap & Accounting
  • Client Interaction
  • Administration duties

The successful candidate will possess strong knowledge of entertainers, concert / event production, sound systems, lighting systems, video projection, staging and venues. Good communication and organizational skills are a must. Proficiency in Excel, PowerPoint, CAD (or Visio) and Word are mandatory. Previous experience in the entertainment and special event industry is a must. Travel will be required.
